Watch: How Mitchell Santner foxed the in-form Virat Kohli in 1st ODI

NEW DELHI: India's run-machine Virat Kohli failed to carry forward his good form in the first one-day international (ODI) of the three-match series against New Zealand on Wednesday at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Kohli, who scored a majestic 166 not out against Sri Lanka in his last ODI, was dismissed for 8 off 10 balls in the 16th over.

Kohli was bamboozled by a Mitchell Santner's ball, which shattered on to his off stump. The right-hander totally misjudged the length and instead of a front foot shot, he stayed back on the crease to block and missed it completely.

As soon as the ball shattered the off stump, batting legend Sunil Gavaskar said on commentary: "Kohli played on the back foot to a delivery he should have gone forward to."

As usual, Kohli stood in disbelief after his dismissal.
