The Kansas City Chiefs have selected Mississippi State LB Willie Gay Jr. at pick No. 63 in the 2020 NFL Draft.
We learned ahead of the draft that the Chiefs were in the market for a coverage linebacker. It sounds like this was exactly the player they were hoping for at pick No. 63 as Andy Reid claimed they were “holding their breath” the closer they got to their selection. The one thing you’ll notice immediately about Gay Jr. is that his athleticism and speed pops off the tape. He projects to be a weakside chase linebacker in the Chiefs’ system and he also should immediately find an impact on special teams.
