Watch: Highlights of Lions’ third-round pick safety Will Harris

The Lions drafted versatile Boston College safety Will Harris with pick No. 81 in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Harris should help the Detroit Lions on special teams right away while adding some depth to a defensive backfield that recently moved on from Pro Bowl safety Glover Quin.

With elite speed (4.41 40-yard-dash time) and a sturdy 6-foot-1, 207-pound frame, Harris is projected to be a solid NFL backup with potential to turn into a starting-caliber safety one day.

Unlike Detroit’s second-round pick, linebacker Jahlani Tavai, there is some actual footage of Harris playing football available for you to watch. So, let’s take a look at some highlights of the Lions’ newest player during his time at Boston College.

Harris vs. Miami

In four years starting for Boston College, Harris tallied 225 tackles, with five interceptions and seven passes defended.

Don’t forget the Lions drafted another safety, Tracy Walker III, in the third round last year and he’s on track to start in 2019. Plus, Detroit’s defensive coordinator Paul Pasqualoni spent time around Harris from his time coaching at Boston College in 2016-17.
