A man was knocked unconscious in a terrifying crash on a busy main road.
The man was taken to hospital following the collision on Thursday afternoon but was not seriously injured.
Emergency services were called Avon Crescent in Chilton Moor, near Houghton-le-Spring , shortly after 2pm after two vehicles collided.
One man involved had fallen unconscious and paramedics rushed to the scene.
He regained consciousness but was taken to the Sunderland Royal Hospital.
CCTV footage from the scene shows the dramatic moment the Nissan Juke and Nissan Micra collided.
A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: "At about 2.30pm on Thursday police received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Avon Crescent in Chilton Moor.
"It was reported that a Nissan Juke had been involved in a collision with a Nissan Micra but thankfully nobody was seriously injured."
A spokesman for the North East Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 2.20pm to a two-vehicle road traffic collision.
"One male patient was unconscious. An off duty paramedic and a police officer were on scene.
"We sent a double-crewed ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and Hazardous Area Response Team.
"The patient regained consciousness but was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital A&E."
