When you work at a remote oil field in Alaska, it pays to be bear aware.
The accompanying footage, captured last week by Rodney Schlapman, shows Carl Spinner scurrying onto the cab of his truck to escape an aggressive grizzly bear and her cub.
“He was pretty nonchalant about it, like it was no big deal, but that’s just his personality,” Schlapman told FTW Outdoors.
The encounter occurred at an American Petroleum Institute yard at Prudhoe Bay, Alaska.

Shclapman said bears occasionally wander through the yard and the sow and her two cubs are well known to oil-field workers.

The above image, showing the GPS-collared sow, was captured recently by one of the workers.
