You can fairly say Cam Newton is inaccurate sometimes. You can say he’s a streaky passer. There are plenty of legitimate criticisms one can make about his game. What you can’t do is doubt his will to win or desire to compete, even through injuries.

If Newton winds up not playing on Sunday because of his foot sprain, it will only be the sixth game he’s missed in his career and one of the previous five was due to a car wreck. Considering the physical punishment that Newton has taken over the years, that’s about as remarkable a feat as any award that he’s won or number he’s put into a box score.
If Cam can’t go, the Panthers will roll with Kyle Allen at quarterback.
