Watch Gordon Murray’s £3.1m T.50s track car tribute to Niki Lauda

EXCLUSIVE supercar maker Gordon Murray Automotive has unveiled its track-focussed T.50s Niki Lauda model.

Limited to a production run of just 25 and costing from £3.1million before taxes, the British outfit says it will offer “an on-track experience like no other car to date”.

Based on the firm’s road-going T.50, hundreds of parts have been changed to optimise the Lauda version for racing circuit use.

It weighs just 852kg and will be powered by a substantially redesigned version of the “regular” car’s Cosworth-engineered, naturally aspirated, 3.9-litre V12, producing 725bhp, revving to 12,100rpm and going through a newly-designed Xtrac six-speed paddle-shift gearbox.

Advanced aerodynamics, aided by a 400mm rear-mounted fan, will produce up to 1500kg of downforce for superb track performance.

Inside, there’s a centrally placed driver’s seat and room for one passenger to experience the thrills of a car capable of topping 200mph.

Production will start in January 2023 at Gordon Murray Automotive’s manufacturing centre in Surrey after the run of 100 T.50 supercars is completed.

The Lauda is named after the legendary three-time F1 world champion who was Gordon Murray’s former Brabham team-mate and friend.

Murray said: “I can just imagine going round your favourite circuit, sitting in the middle with that unsilenced V12 screaming just behind you – the driving experience will be something special.

“Niki was a great racing driver and he was also a good friend. He would have appreciated the innovation and engineering detail in our car.”
