WATCH: Gordon Hayward fractures left hand against Spurs (updated)

Gordon Hayward has been on a tear lately but the Boston Celtics had a scare when Hayward, showing discomfort with his left arm, headed off to the locker room after a collision with San Antonio Spurs big man LaMarcus Aldridge.

Hayward, who had nine points (on 4-9 shooting from the field), two rebounds, one steal and one block at the half, would not return in the second half after being diagnosed with a left hand fracture. He entered Saturday’s contest against the Spurs with averages of 20.3 points, 7.9 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 0.7 steals per game while shooting 56.4% from the field and 44.4% from three.

It’s not currently known how long Hayward will be out for the Celtics.

Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Hayward will see a specialist on Monday to determine if he’ll require surgery.

If he does, Hayward will have the surgery on Monday and his recovery timely will he updates shortly thereafter.
