WATCH: Giants training camp off to a rough start with two injured players

The New York Giants’ training camp is not off to an ideal start as two of the team’s wide receivers suffered injuries on Thursday. Corey Coleman tore his ACL, the team announced Friday, and Sterling Shepard fractured his thumb.

Coleman’s injury ends his season before it truly began. The former Browns WR signed with the Giants last season, playing eight games with time spent on the special teams unit and as a receiver. Coleman was expected to have a larger role in the offense this year, helping to fill the void left by the Odell Beckham Jr. trade.

Shepard is out for at least two weeks, at which point he’ll be evaluated, but the full timeline of his recovery is unknown. Shepard accounted for nearly 900 receiving yards last season on 66 receptions, with 4 TDs. The Giants signed the 26-year old to a four-year, $41 million extension in April.
