WATCH: Georgia QB D’Wan Mathis out of hospital following emergency surgery for brain cyst

Georgia QB D’Wan Mathis is out of the hospital following successful surgery to remove a potentially life-threatening brain cyst.

The quarterback was rushed to the emergency room Thursday after feeling severe sinus pain. An MRI found both build up of outside the brain as well as the cyst.

Mathis played in Georgia’s spring game and is competing against Stetson Bennett to be Jake Fromm’s primary backup for the upcoming 2019 season.

Mathis is scheduled to be with the team Wednesday for a team meeting and to be on antibiotics for 30 days. Georgia is ranked No. 3 in USA Today’s Preseason Top 25.
