Watch: Georgia HC Kirby Smart makes case for Andrew Thomas as top OT in NFL Draft

Andrew Thomas is regarded as one of the best offensive tackles in the 2020 NFL draft class.

A few other names have soared up the big board this offseason, like Iowa’s Tristan Wirfs and Louisville’s Mekhi Becton, but when you look at what Thomas was able to do at Georgia for three consecutive years it’s hard to place anybody above him.

Thomas is a lock to be taken in the first round of tonight’s NFL Draft, but the question is when will he go, where will he go and will he be the first tackle off the board?

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart joined Andrew Siciliano on the NFL Network to discuss Thomas just hours ahead of the draft.

Smart said that Thomas is a guy who will be a 12-14 year starter in the pros and that no tackle in this class has done it at a higher level than Thomas has over the last three years.

Smart also made mention to the fact that Thomas went up against college football’s most elite pass rushers each Saturday for three straight years, and rarely lost one of those battles.

For proof of that, take a look at this Georgia vs LSU SEC Championship Game footage. Georgia ultimately got blown out, but Thomas completely shut down LSU defensive end K’Lavon Chaisson, a projected top-15 pick, all day long.

“When he plays against the best, he plays his best,” said Smart.
