Georgia made an early splash on National Signing Day by securing the commitment of Hoover High (Hoover, AL), five-star wide receiver George Pickens.
Pickens, a 6-foot-4, 190-pound receiver has been committed to Auburn since July. He is rated as the No. 4 wide receiver nationally and the No. 1 rated player in Alabama. Along with five-star offensive lineman Clay Webb, the Dawgs have signed the top two players in the state of Alabama.
Pickens is the Dawgs’ fifth signee with a five-star rating. He is the third wide receiver in the 2019 class, joining Walton High (Marietta, GA) five-star Dominick Blaylock and University School’s (Baton Rouge, LA) Makia Tongue.
In 2018, Pickens’ senior season, the five-star receiver reeled in 72 catches for 1,387 yards and 15 touchdowns. It may be a bit premature, but I see some flashes of AJ Green in his highlight video, which you can watch below.
Both stand at 6-4 and neither seem to possess blazing fast speed. But they both have crisp route running and incredible body control, showing the ability to contort their body mid-air to come down with a catch.
