Watch: Gardner Minshew now has a mullet

Gardner Minshew II has been a popular figure for the Jacksonville Jaguars due to his many fashion statements over the years. While his 2020 campaign on the field didn’t go all that great and he may never be the Jags starter again, it appears his sense of humor and willingness to push fashion boundaries won’t change.

In his most recent social media post, Minshew showed off a new look as he’s gone on from his iconic mustache to a mullet. With him being from the state of Mississippi, he’s also come up with a name for the hairstyle: the “Mississippi Mudflap.”

Some may be quick to call Minshew’s mullet another gimmick, but Jags fans know by now that it’s simply a matter of the young quarterback being himself. It’s anybody’s guess on if Minshew will be keeping his new hairstyle for the season, or if he will even get to rock it in a Jags uniform, but it’s an interesting look, to say the least.

Minshew’s fate ultimately will be in the hands of new coach Urban Meyer this offseason. As many fans are aware, the Jags have the No. 1 overall pick, which means Trevor Lawrence — a probable Day 1 starter — is highly likely to end up in Duval.

Of course, with that being the case, trade rumors have been floated out there for Minshew with the league being starved for quarterback talent. However, that’s a story that really can’t be evaluated until later in the offseason.

The argument could also be made to keep Minshew, too, who seems like an ideal backup after registering 20 career starts in two years. There have been a few postseason situations where backup quarterbacks had to take the field this month and a lesson could be learned about having a respectable No. 2 option on the roster.
