Watch: Gang chase and throw fireworks at lads out for a walk in Dublin park

A gang has been caught on camera throwing fireworks at a group of people out for a walk in a popular Dublin park.

The terrifying incident happened on Friday night in Howth's Deer Park.

In the video, four men are chased by a gang armed with fireworks.

Some of the fireworks thrown land very close to two of the men at one point.

One witness told Dublin Live they were out for a walk when "all hell broke loose".

The witness said: "I was walking in Deer Park in Howth with the dogs when four guys came down from the reservoir area. So, I moved over to the right where the trees are.

"The four lads passed on by and I noticed, as you can see on the video, other people coming up from the lower section. Then, as you can see, all hell broke loose.

They added: "The four guys were being attacked with fireworks. The gang were actually aiming them at them."

The witness became enraged at what they were seeing and intervened.

They said: "My dogs got scared and I got angry - hurt my dogs and you're hurting my kids. So I started roaring at the gang and calling them all sorts."

"They moved off to the gateway across from the castle and I called the gardai. The four lads came back up very shaken. Those idiots were out to cause injury. It wasn't for fun."

A spokesperson for the Gardai said: "We have no reported incidents."
