Watch: Former OSU baseball player Dominic Canzone goes yard in minors

The Ohio State baseball season is long over at this point, but there’s one former Buckeye still doing damage at the plate. Former Buckeye right fielder Dominic Canzone was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the eighth round of the 2019 MLB draft and he’s currently in their minor league system playing for the Missoula Osprey, a rookie advanced team in the Pioneer League.

At Ohio State, there’s no doubt that Canzone was the MVP of the team last year. He led them in batting average, on-base percentage, home runs, hits, games played, slugging percentage and stolen bases. He was a First-Team All Big Ten selection and probably should have gotten more consideration for conference player of the year.

And by all accounts and measures, Canzone is acclimating himself well to the minor leagues. So far this season, he has appeared in eighteen games. In those games he has a .304 average with 4 home-runs and 22 RBIs.

And he leveled up Tuesday night by hitting not one, but two dingers to help the Osprey to a win and first-place tie in the league.

You can watch one of his homers in the below video shared by the Osprey’s official Twitter page:
