Watch former Ohio State running back Mike Weber discuss the mentorship between he and Ezekiel Elliott

Former Ohio State and current Dallas Cowboys running backs Ezekiel Elliott and Mike Weber have had a mentorship type of arrangement before. When Elliott finishing up his career in Columbus, Weber was just getting his feet wet as freshman, learning from everything the Elliott did on and off the field.

Now they’re at it again.

In fact, it’s likely Weber didn’t have reuniting with Elliott in his wildest dreams when he thought about playing in the NFL. But when the Cowboys took a flyer on the Michigan native, he had to be over the moon.

Weber spoke a bit about that relationship and what it means today at the next level. When answering what he though of Elliott, Weber seemed to appreciate how things have come full circle. His comments were shared via the official Twitter feed of the Cowboys.

“He showed me a lot coming into Ohio State,” said Weber. “He took me under his wing, he showed me the plays, the playbook, how to become a college player. Right now, I got drafted by the Cowboys, it’s kind of crazy like we’re about to do this all over again. So, right now, he helped me with the playbook, he showed me the ropes right now, so he’s a good guy to look up to right now to show me the ropes.”

This all has to be great for both Elliott and Weber. How much the younger former Buckeye back gets involved in the fun in 2019 remains to be seen, but getting a chance to be mentored by Elliott once again is a very good situation for him to be put into.
