Watch former Ohio State hockey player Ryan Dzingel bond with family battling cancer

In case you missed it, a former Ohio State hockey player is coming home. That’s right, the Columbus Bluejackets made some fairly significant moves at the trade deadline, with one of those being a trade that brought former Buckeye Ryan Dzingel back to Central Ohio.

The center’s ability to hold his own on the ice is unquestioned, and there’s no doubt that it makes the Bluejackets a better hockey club coming down the stretch, but the person that Columbus is getting needs highlighted as well.

We ran across this video that sheds some light on that. Watch the below from the Ottawa Sentators on Dzingel’s relationship with a family battling cancer and his bond with them.

You win with talent, but you win with quality people as well. When you can put the two together, then you have the makings of something truly special. Ryan Dzingel appears to fit that description.

Good on him, good on the Bluejackets for going after such a quality guy, and thoughts and prayers to Jacob, Sophia, and their family’s battle with such a horrible disease.
