Watch: Former Georgia, Florida players turned Jags debate over Bulldogs and Gators matchup

The Jacksonville Jaguars won’t be playing at their home stadium this week as TIAA Bank Field will be hosting the Georgia-Florida game Saturday a.k.a. The World’s Largest Cocktail Party. Instead, they will be playing at their home away from home, Wembley Stadium, for their annual game under the league’s NFL International series. However, that does not mean that the Jaguars from both universities won’t be watching the game from afar, as the rivalry is one of the biggest in football.

Action News Jax’s Brent Martineau caught a debate between former Georgia Bulldogs, Abry Jones and Terry Godwin, and former Florida Gators, Taven Bryan and Lerentee McCray, where things got a little heated. And though nothing was really settled between the four, it’s safe to say they will be taking their trash-talking antics across the pond for meeting No. 96 between the two teams.

McCray is right when looking at the rivalry, the Gators have won three of the last five (2014-16), while the Bulldogs have won the last two (2017-18). Godwin was on the roster for most of those games excluding 2014’s game. Bryan, on the other hand, was on the Gators’ roster for four of those meetings (2014-17).

Saturday’s game will have big-time implications with both teams being ranked in the top-8 while jostling for the No. 1 spot in the SEC East. The winner of Sunday’s matchup will potentially get to represent the SEC East in the conference’s championship if they avoid any more losses. By winning the SEC Championship, it’s all but guaranteed the victor will end up in the playoffs and have a shot to become the national champions of 2020.
