WATCH: Firefighters deal with early morning blaze in Chapelhall

There was early morning drama in a Chapelhall street today as a fire broke out at a house there.

Emergency services raced to the scene at Sherdale Avenue just after 10am.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokeswoman told Lanarkshire Live : “We are in attendance at the property in Chapelhall.

“There are two appliances there dealing with the incident.

“All the information that we have so far is that there seems to have been a fire within the kitchen at a property in Sherdale Avenue.”

Thankfully there have been no reports of injuries at the Sherdale Avenue incident (Lanarkshire Live)

Residents from neighbouring properties could be seen on the street as the drama unfolded.

One eyewitness told us: “It looked like the emergency services got it under control pretty quickly.

“There was smoke coming from the roof, but that was dampened and sorted.

“There was a window at the back that had been opened and smoke was coming from it with char marks on it.

“It looked like the firefighters were going into the neighbouring property to check if it had spread, but it seemed like it had been dealt with.”

There have been no reports of injuries and our source said it did not appear that any ambulance personnel were on site.
