Watch firefighters battle to get blaze under control after car bursts into flames in Portobello

Dramatic video footage has emerged that shows firefighters battling to get a blaze under control after a car burst into flames while parked in Portobello earlier.

Emergency services raced to Brighton Place shortly before 11am on Friday after the vehicle went on fire. Buses were diverted away from the area, and some traffic was disrupted.

However fire crews managed to get the flames quickly under control, and the area was made safe a short time later. There were no injuries.

A spokesperson for th Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were alerted at 10.56am on Friday, December 11 to reports of one car well-alight on Brighton Place, Portobello, Edinburgh.

"Operations Control mobilised one fire appliance and firefighters extinguished the flames.

"There were no reported casualties and crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe."
