WATCH: Firefighters battle grass fire in Portmarnock as smoke billows across road

Brave Dublin firefighters sprung into action to contain yet another grass fire that broke out in north Dublin this afternoon.

Footage of the blaze shows smoke billowing across the road as Dublin Fire Brigade work to bring it under control.

The video was taken by 10-year-old local girl Caoimhe Swan.

Grass fires have become common in the area in recent weeks during the recent dry and sunny spell.

A Red Forest Fire Warning was put in place over the June bank holiday weekend as temperatures rocketed as high as 25C.

Firefighters in north Dublin had a particularly busy time over that weekend.

Pictures on Enjoy Malahide page showed extensive damage cause due to fires that weren't put out on the old golf course behind Seapark in Malahide.

Firefighters were also at the scene of a fire in the sand dunes of Dollymount Strand.

The fearless crew of the Dublin Fire Brigade worked tirelessly to put out the flames.

Water and gorse beaters were used by firefighters from Kilbarrack and North Strand to extinguish the fire on Bull Island.

In a third instance a Portmarnock resident shared pictures of fire damage on Portmarnock Beach after dozens of beer bottles and cans were found strewn on the beach.

Portmarnock resident Sean Patrick Brennan said: "It's terrible what people do.

"40 years working for Portmarnock Golf Club. Never seen anything like this before."

It's understood there was no foul play involved in this afternoon's fire.

A DFB spokesman said: "A fire was reported to the Eastern Regional Control Centre at 14:28 of grass on fire near the car park on the Golf Link Road in Portmarnock, near the Golf Club.

"Firefighters from Kilbarrack arrived at 14:40 and extinguished the fire. They were on scene for approximately 20 minutes."
