WATCH: Fans sing-song led by man on shelter after crushing Croatia defeat

Scotland fans in East Kilbride remained in high spirits last night despite watching their country crash out of Euro 2020.

The Tartan Army were beaten 3-1 by Croatia, but that didn't stop pub-goers in The Village cheering on the team after the game.

With boozers now only allowed to stay open until 10.30pm, locals were forced on to the street not long after the full-time whistle was blown.

Last orders were followed by a chorus of Flower Of Scotland sung by the lively crowd on Montgomerie Street at around 10.45pm.

One man stood on top of a bike shelter leading the chants, while other patriots join in with the national anthem.

Scotland started the match at Hampden on the front foot but went 1-0 down early on.

That was before Callum McGregor raised the roof with his equaliser minutes before half-time – Scotland's first and only goal in the competition.

But it wasn't to be for Steve Clarke's men this time, as a world class goal from Croatia's captain Luka Modric broke the hearts of a nation in the second half.

And the team's fate was sealed shortly after when Ivan Perišić rose above Lanarkshire's Kieran Tierney to head in Croatia's third.

However, people watching in pubs in East Kilbride were not about to let the disappointing result dampen their spirits, and they sang into the night.

Scotland flags were paraded on the street as locals soaked up the last of the Euro-atmosphere which has lifted the nation this month.

One East Kilbride man who saw the scenes unfold in The Village said: "The atmosphere has been brilliant throughout."

He added: "Such a shame about the result but we've enjoyed the whole thing. It just shows we'll keep singing and supporting.

"If that's us when we get beat, imagine what everyone would've been like if we won!"
