Watch: Falcons rookie OT Kaleb McGary is practicing again

Falcons rookie offensive tackle Kaleb McGary is back at practice again, just three weeks after undergoing a heart procedure. Vaughn McClure at ESPN got a video of McGary going through individual drills. Watch.

This is a very welcome sight for Atlanta and not just because it’s a great sign for McGary’s health.

The Falcons’ situation at right tackle has been problematic throughout the preseason so far to say the least. Ty Sambrailo has done nothing to alleviate concerns about the three-year contract he signed this spring. John Wetzel did not appear to do much better, either.

It will of course take McGary some time to get back up to speed, but head coach Dan Quinn has not ruled out the possibility he could play Week 1 against the Vikings. Obviously, they can’t rush him back, but the Falcons need all the depth they can get at that spot.

For now, it sounds like Quinn is willing to give Matt Gono a real chance to play the position.

Gono has been getting some first-team reps at practice lately.

It will be interesting to see who gets the nod against Washington this week.
