Watch: Falcons DB admits he deserved ejection for his hit on Cam Newton

Cam Newton has taken more than his fair share of late and dirty hits during his time in the NFL. The beating the Broncos put on him in the Super Bowl is only the worst example. Truth is, Newton regularly takes harder and more dangerous hits than the average quarterback.

One of the worst in recent memory came early in the 2018 season when the Panthers were visiting the Falcons. During the middle of a slide after scrambling for a first down, Newton took a late helmet to helmet shot from Atlanta defensive back Damontae Kazee. The hit got Kazee ejected and fined by the league. Speaking in an interview with Fox Sports One, Kazee now admits he was wrong and deserved ejection.

Good on Kazee for coming around. It takes character to admit when you were wrong.

Despite the dumb move against Carolina, Kazee had a strong year for the Falcons. He finished the season with seven interceptions, tied for the NFL lead. Kazee is likely to be a headache for the Panthers offense in the coming years.
