The Chicago Bears suffered a brutal defeat at the hands of former Bear Mitch Trubisky and the Buffalo Bills, 41-15, on Saturday at Soldier Field. And while there are concerns that arose from the loss, rookie quarterback Justin Fields remains the biggest source of optimism.
Saturday’s game gave us our second look at Fields in live action, where he continued to impress despite offensive line struggles and some drops by receivers. He completed 9-of-19 passes for 80 yards and added four rushes for 46 yards. Once again, Fields flashed his mobility and his ability to make something out of nothing.
As head coach Matt Nagy remains firm in his decision to start Andy Dalton in Week 1 — despite how Fields has been performing — these preseason games are going to have to tide Bears fans over until Nagy inevitably caves and starts Fields, whenever that may be.
