WATCH: ESPN teases Gardner Minshew and ‘Uncle Rico’ segment for Sunday NFL Countdown

Dating back to his days in Pullman with the Washington State Cougars, Gardner Minshew’s unique look has often caused many to compare him to “Uncle Rico” (better known as Jon Gries) from the cult classic “Napoleon Dynamite.” That comparison caught even more fire with his recent emergence in the NFL with the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the good people over at ESPN managed to somehow bring them together for a feature on their “Sunday NFL Countdown” show.

Check out the teaser released by ESPN producer Jon Fish on Twitter as Minshew and Gries showed off their abilities to sling the pigskin like only they can.

Word broke about a collaboration between Minshew and Gries Thursday, when he was spotted in a Waffle House near Jacksonville Beach filming for the segment. Later that afternoon, he showed up at the Jags facility with his legendary van to finished up the segment and meet Minshew in the process.

Per News4Jax, Mark Braddock’s viral “Rico” shirts for his company 8103 Clothing Inc. will be featured in the segment, too. Braddock was contacted by ESPN for his viral design, and eventually, the two parties agreed to make 8103 a part of the segment which is sure to make Duval proud.
