Watch: ESPN discusses Todd Gurley’s knee, future

ESPN discusses if Todd Gurley will ever be the same with his knee injury.

Former Georgia football star Todd Gurley tore his ACL in his junior season of college, however, five years later he is still producing as the NFL’s best running back for the Los Angeles Rams.

Gurley played sparingly during the Rams Super Bowl run last year, and nobody really knew why that is, although The Athletic did report it was due to arthritis in gurley’s knee – the same one he tore. Nobody had been able to confirm that report publicly. Gurley’s trainer Travelle Gaines, though, did confirm to CBS Sports that the NFL superstar is dealing with an “arthritic component to his knee,” but made clear that Gurley will be ready for upcoming season.

“Everybody knew when Todd came out of Georgia that there would be some kind of arthritic component to his knee, which is part of every surgery whether it’s a shoulder, a knee, an ankle,” Gaines told CBS Sports last week. “He’s now at the year-five mark, all we’re doing is managing that. If we can pound him less in the offseason while keeping his weight down, working on his strength, working on his agility in short areas, that’s going to give him a better chance to be healthy Weeks 14 through 17 when they really count.”

When asked about if Gurley will sit out more this year, especially since the Rams drafted Darrell Henderson out of Memphis in the third round.
