The Los Angeles Rams made a splash on Friday afternoon, signing free-agent safety Eric Weddle. He was just released by the Baltimore Ravens this week and was free to sign and negotiate with any team at any point. The Rams hosted him for a visit on Thursday night and didn’t let him leave the building without a deal.
On Friday, the two sides made it official. The team shared this video of Weddle putting pen to paper, signing his two-year deal worth up to $12.5 million.
After signing the contract, Weddle – with a neatly shaved beard – shared a message with Rams fans. He’s ready to get to work and help L.A. win a Super Bowl.
The 34-year-old has made the playoffs in five of 12 NFL seasons, but he’ll try to add to that total in the next two years with the Rams.
