Eddy Pineiro might be the last kicker standing in Chicago, but he still has to win the job.
Less than a week after the Bears released Elliott Fry, Pineiro is showing that they made the right call, as evidenced by his performance in the Bears’ third preseason game against the Colts.
Late in the third quarter, Pineiro showed his leg strength when he drilled a 58-yard field goal, right down the middle, to bring the Bears within four points.
Earlier during warm-ups, Pineiro had connected from the same distance. But obviously warm-ups and live game action are entirely different.
Pineiro has connected on both of his field goal attempts on the night, from 21 and 58 yards.
With the Bears searching for an answer to their kicker woes, Pineiro gave fans a reason to get excited about the potential — at least for now.
