WATCH: Eddy Pineiro doinks for first time as a Bear

It’s been 294 days since the last doink by the Chicago Bears when Cody Parkey broke the hearts of Bears fans everywhere with a double-doink missed field goal that ousted Chicago from the playoffs.

For six games, kicker Eddy Pineiro has been near perfect. He had been 8-for-9 on field goal attempts and perfect on extra points. Even as he nursed a pinched nerve in his right kicking leg.

But it had to happen eventually, right?

Pineiro doinked the ball off the right upright in a 33-yard field goal attempt late in the first quarter. The field goal would’ve given the Bears the lead, but instead the Chargers got the ball back.

Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky hit wide receiver Anthony Miller for a 24-yard completion that seemed to jumpstart Chicago’s offense. He also hit running back Tarik Cohen for 31 yards that set them up in the redzone. But they stalled in the redzone soon after, which prompted the field goal attempt.

Pineiro converted on a 22-yard field goal on Chicago’s next offensive drive, which gave them a 3-0 lead early in the second quarter.
