Dublin twerk classes are proving to be joyful and uplifting for anyone who heads along.
Based in Project Revive in Ranelagh (just up from the Luas stop), Australian-born Haelee and her team of twerkers aim to empower themselves and each other while also creating a strong sense of community and friendship.
Walking into the small studio during a class, the first thing you get hit by is the infectious energy as Haelee leads a group of twerking women, teaching them choreography and loading them with constant encouragements.
When you first try the booty-popping, hip thrusting dance, you will soon learn that it's a skill that takes practice to perfect.
Haelee reveals that twerking is more than what we see in music videos and during pop concerts, explaining that it holds an important place in Afro-Caribbean heritage and tradition.
For her Dublin-based class of diverse women from Ireland and around the world, it's a lot more than a dance.
Haelee says, "Twerking is hugely popular in Dublin.
"I've been teaching it for three years and it's just so addictive. The body positivity, the community, we're like a family.
"It's really nice to find a place that welcomes everyone in. It gives you energy and you actually enjoy working out. People leave happy. A few of the girls have gone out for cocktails after class."
Twerking classes take place in Project Revive on Thursday nights and Saturday afternoons. As Haelee and some of the class attendees explained to Dublin Live, they often hang out afterwards.
Additionally, they run a roller skating club aptly called Huns of Anarchy, which promises the same sense of community, body positivity and empowerment.
