WATCH: Dublin man tries to wash footpaths in belting rain during Storm Barra

A worker was caught on camera trying to wash footpaths during the height of Storm Barra in Dublin city this morning.

He appeared to be fighting a losing battle as he hosed down a path near the Four Courts while rain pelted down.

Dubliner Eric Doran took the video before he left for work this morning and couldn't believe what he was seeing.

He told Dublin Live: "I was leaving the house to go to work and I just looked across. I kind of ignored him for a second, I had to take another look because I literally thought I was seeing things.

"The video doesn't do it justice of how bad it was. It was so breezy and windy and the rain was absolutely belting down.

"I couldn't believe what I was seeing to be honest with you."

Eric compared it to seeing videos of people taking buckets of water out of the sea, trying to empty it.

He said: "It was just one of them mad things.

"I wanted to go over closer to him and ask, 'what are you doing?'

"If it wasn't so bad I would have gone closer but I had to go back in and get ready for work. It was really bad this morning, I couldn't even feel my hands."
