WATCH Dublin Fire Brigade issue warning after footage shows dramatic electric cable fire metres from home

Dublin Fire Brigade issued an important warning after battling a dramatic electric cable fire in Tallaght.

Dublin firefighters rushed to the scene of a dangerous blaze caused by electricity cables in Newcastle earlier this morning.

The DFB and ESB Networks battled the sparking blaze before the fire was safely put out with no injuries reported.

A video shared by the DFB on Twitter showed the moment the fire rained down from the live cable above a shed, perilously close to homes.

They wrote: "It’s obvious this electricity cable is live. But what if a line is sitting on the ground not sparking? ALWAYS assume they are live.

"Firefighters from Tallaght attended this incident In Newcastle this morning with an emergency team from @ESBNetworks. No injuries."

People are reminded to call 999 or 112 in an emergency.

ESB Networks also urges members of the public to stay away from fallen or low hanging wires and to call them on 1800 372 999 to report it.
