More than a month has passed since Antonio Brown was last on an NFL roster after the Patriots released him Sept. 20.
Now, Brown’s agent Drew Rosenhaus is reiterating what he said publicly just days after the release: the agent believes his client is going to play again this season.
“I do expect Antonio to play again this season,” Rosenhaus said Tuesday on CNBC’s “Squawk Alley.” “Hopefully we will get the NFL investigation behind him in the near future and he can sign with a new team.”
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said last week that the league is still working on the investigation, which began the week leading up to New England releasing Brown.
The NFL’s investigation follows evidence that the wide receiver sent threatening texts to a reported victim of previous sexual harassment by Brown. That instance came on the heels of a separate lawsuit being filed against him for sexual assault and rape.
Brown spent 11 days on the Patriots’ roster after a rocky summer with the Oakland Raiders, who released him just before the Week 1 NFL games.
The NFL Player’s Association has filed grievances against both teams on Brown’s behalf as he reportedly seeks about $40 million in back pay.
