A dramatic video shows a swimmer being rescued from the Firth of Forth by lifeboat.

The Queensferry Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) were called out to a female wild swimmer stranded far out in water at Kirkcaldy on Sunday October 31.

The video shows the team of four on the lifeboat slowly bobbing through stormy conditions to rescue a broken down rigid inflatable boat (RIB) with four passengers on board.

The bright red lifeboat can be seen hitting off the choppy waves as it powers through to rescue the group.

RNLI wrote: “"Sporting" conditions over this weekend which can be viewed via our boat camera footage of Saturday's shout.

"We were tasked to a broken down RIB with 4 passengers onboard, all were towed back to safety.

"The footage shows relief lifeboat "Edna May" carrying out an astern tow, all done at a slow safe speed which means you can feel every wave coming!"

The post was viewed by hundreds of locals in awe at the shocking video.
