Watch dramatic Firth of Forth rescue near Edinburgh as swimmer hauled from water

A dramatic video shows a swimmer being rescued from the Firth of Forth by lifeboat.

The Kinghorn Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) were called out to a female wild swimmer stranded far out in water at Kirkcaldy on Sunday October 31.

The swimmer had been swept out by a rip tide amongst rocks off Kirkcaldy, leaving her stuck too far out unable to swim back to shore.

With the lady’s permission the team shared the incredible video that shows their life saving work in action.

The video shows the team jumping into action as the orange life boat fires into the water, speeding out.

The team find the swimmer and launch a throwing line towards her before approaching and helping her onto the boat.

RNLI wrote: “You may recall our rescue from Sunday 31st October where we helped a swimmer being swept out to sea by a rip tide amongst rocks off Kirkcaldy.

“She has kindly agreed to let us share a short video of our part in her rescue.

“She was definitely saved by her own equipment (especially her tow float) as well as the prompt actions of the people she had been swimming with.

“We consider this a life saved, although she and her friends definitely helped to make that happen!”

The post was liked by hundreds of locals in awe at the shocking video.

Melissa Cheshire said: “What an amazing job you guys do! Well done to you all!”

Jacqui Dunbar exclaimed: “What a great outcome for the swimmer. Thanks for everything you do.”

While Sally Goble said: “Oh my goodness she was so far out! Well done you folks - brilliant.”
