Watch devastated Diego Maradona mourners flock to pay tribute to Argentina legend after tragic passing

Argentina is in mourning after Diego Maradona passed away at the age of 60.

Arguably the greatest player to ever play the game of football, the news of his passing shocked the world on Wednesday evening.

The country of his birth declared three days of national mourning and thousands made their way to pay tribute to him with Maradona's coffin displayed for supporters to see.

It's a scene of high emotion as a national hero is saluted by his people.

There were clashes with police outside the church as mourners tried to get in and pay their respects amid thousands waiting outside.

Tributes have poured in for Maradona since the sad news of his passing with minute's silences taking place before every European game on Wednesday night, and it will be the same when Celtic and Rangers play on Thursday in the Europa League.

Regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time, Maradona turned out for Boca Juniors, Barcelona and Napoli among others during a storied career.

But it was in the blue and white of Argentina he is most fondly remembered.

Maradona won the World Cup for his nation in 1986, scoring the iconic "Hand of God" goal past England keeper Peter Shilton.

He also bagged a stunning solo effort from his own half remembered as one of the finest goals in history.

The diminutive star, previously named FIFA's player of the century, most recently worked as manager of Argentine side Gimnasia de La Plata.

He led a turbulent life off the pitch, with his issues with alcohol and drug abuse well documented over the years.
