WATCH: Detroit Lions waive TE Michael Roberts after trade with Patriots voids

Tight end Michael Roberts was traded Thursday from the Detroit Lions to the New England Patriots for a conditional seventh-round 2020 NFL Draft pick as Bill Belichick and the Super Bowl champions try and gather the right pieces for their offense following Rob Gronkowski’s retirement.

On Friday, Roberts is on neither the Lions’ roster nor the Patriots after his trade was voided. The 2017 draft pick failed his physical, according to league sources, which negated the trade. The Lions have since waived Roberts.
