Running back Derrick Henry finished the regular season as the NFL’s leading rusher before the Titans knocked the Patriots out of the Wild Card round.
As a thank you to the big men who blocked for all 303 carries this season, the 22-year-old former Alabama star bought his entire offensive line Rolexes, gifting them to his guys this week. Henry rushed for 1,540 yards this season.
“Pretty cool, huh?, He took care of us,” center Ben Jones said according to the Titans official website. “It’s special. He told us at the beginning of the year if we got a certain amount of yards and the rushing title, he would hook us up and it happened. He gave it to us and thanked us for how hard we work, but it wouldn’t have been done without him.”
In the last seven games, Henry averaged 154 rushing yards per game with 11 touchdowns over the stretch for a league-high 1,078 yards over those games (which includes that win against the Pats).
Tennessee visits Baltimore Saturday for a night game at M&T Bank Stadium, where Henry and his linemen will face the fifth-best rush defense in the NFL.
The Ravens only give up an average of 93.4 rushing yards per game, while the Titans average 138.9 rushing yards an outing.
While Lamar Jackson also gifted his linemen Rolexes for Christmas, and he probably supports the same gesture of appreciation for men in the trenches, there’s no chance he hopes the Titans line and Henry have the type of success that set up the gifts this week against his team.
