Watch: Deandre Baker, family see dream become a reality

For Georgia cornerback Deandre Baker, Thursday night saw a dream become a reality.

The former three-star Northwestern High School (Miami, Fl.) prospect became a first round NFL Draft pick, being selected 30th overall by the New York Giants, who traded up to get him.

Accompanied by his family in Nashville, Baker became the first cornerback taken in the 2019 NFL Draft, despite late reports of character concerns that threatened to drop him out of the first round.

But the Giants saw Baker for what he is: a confident and competitive player who outworked a three-star ranking to become college football’s best cornerback.

That player showed when he did not allow a touchdown in 2+ years of playing SEC football. It showed when he was awarded the Jim Thorpe Award and named to almost every first string all-American team. And it showed again when his dream of becoming a first round NFL Draft pick became the real deal Thursday night in Nashville, Tennessee.

Congratulations to D-Bake.

Watch as Baker and his family heard the news.
