Chicago Bears rookie David Montgomery has the inside track at the starting running back gig left vacant by the trade of Jordan Howard to the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason.
And while Montgomery has to hold off veteran free-agent signee Mike Davis, it’s assumed the former Iowa State star will rise to the top of the depth chart by the time the preseason concludes.
The best way for him to secure that starting role is to impress the coaching staff in practice, which he did this week in Bourbonnais.
