WATCH: David Montgomery flashes balance, vision at Bears training camp

The Chicago Bears drafted Iowa State running back David Montgomery in the third round of the 2019 NFL draft to provide the offense with an all-around talent at the position. Unlike Jordan Howard, Montgomery has three-down potential and is the perfect fit for Matt Nagy’s offense.

Despite lasting until the third round, Montgomery possesses first-round traits. Most notably, his contact balance and vision rank at or near the top of the 2019 draft class, and that includes first-round pick, Josh Jacobs (Raiders).

Montgomery got his first opportunity to practice in pads Sunday and he’s already flashing some of the traits that make him such an exciting addition in Chicago.
