It’s the time of year for interesting takes from former NFL players. Already this week we’ve learned that Maurice Jones-Drew has David Johnson ranked as the league’s 25th best running back and Josh McCown thinks Julian Edelman is better than DeAndre Hopkins. The Panthers are of course never immune to this kind of trend, especially quarterback Cam Newton.
Watch NFL Network’s David Carr on his doubts that Newton will stick to his new throwing mechanics once the games begin.
It is certainly possible Newton will revert to his old instincts when the adrenaline kicks in during the season. Then again, Carr may be projecting some of his own technique failures onto Cam.
Time will tell.
