Watch Darren Clarke's stunning hole-in-one at the Cologuard Classic in Arizona

Former Open champion Darren Clarke conjured up a moment in history after pulling an ace from his pocket at Sunday’s PGA Champions Tour's Cologuard Classic.

The 51-year-old, now playing on the senior circuit in the States, wowed the galleries in Arizona with a stunning hole-in-one at the par-three 16th.

Clarke, who went on to finish in a tie for 24th, arrowed his six-iron shot onto the green, the ball bouncing into the hole after crashing off the flag.

It was the first hole-in-one recorded on the Catalina Course's 16th hole in the six-year history of the tournament

The Cologuard Classic was won by Bernhard Langer, who finished two shots ahead of American Woody Austin.

Clarke will return to Royal St. George's this summer for the Open where he lifted the Claret Jug in 2011.
