Watch: Daniel Jones throws two second-half interceptions

Coming into Monday night’s game against the Buccaneers, Giants quarterback Daniel Jones already had seven interceptions and four lost fumbles on the season. Turnovers have been a problem for Jones throughout his NFL career, and while he was able to navigate Todd Bowles’ defense in the first half, leading to a 14-6 Giants lead at the half, Jones reverted to form in the second half with two avoidable interceptions.

The first pick came early in the third quarter, on the Giants’ second offensive play from scrimmage. Bowles dialed up a pressure look up front, Jones succumbed, and a helium ball to Carlton Davis was the result.

Then, with 12:12 left in the fourth quarter, Jones felt pressure again, tried to hit Golden Tate on a quick pass, and Sean Murphy-Bunting came away with it.

Jones had deep receivers open on both plays if he had waited it out, but on the season, per Pro Football Focus, he’s attempted just 13 passes of 20 or more air yards. He has completed seven of them for 218 yards and three touchdowns, but you have to take those shots to make them.
