Watch: Dan Orlovsky breaks down how Matthew Stafford is succeeding in 2019

Former Detroit Lions quarterback turned ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky was recently on NFL Live and broke down how Lions current quarterback Matthew Stafford is succeeding in offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell’s scheme.

Orlovsky has long been a champion of Stafford, often taking to social media and television to point attention to a quarterback he believes is underrated and deserves more national attention.

Orlovsky has ties to the Lions organization but he is very professional in his approach to film analysis and doesn’t play favorites. As a former signal-caller, he looks at the game from a different lens than other analysts, always bringing a unique and intelligent approach to his reports.

In this video, Orlovsky points out that Stafford has been long utilizing the side-arm and unique arm angled passes with success — yes, even before the more nationally credited Patrick Mahomes — stating “a little bit of the gunslinger is back for Matthew Stafford.”

Orlovsky then uses two plays where he illustrates how Stafford is finding success on third downs, using creative arm angles and anticipation to locate and deliver passes to open receivers.

Check out the impressive analysis from Orlovsky in the tweet below:
