Watch crowd go wild as Rick Astley sings Never Gonna Give You Up while supporting Take That

Tickets were promptly snapped up for his open air concert on Tyneside in July and Rick Astley can be sure of a great reception if Saturday night is anything to go by.

Take That were at Middlesbrough's Riverside Stadium for the latest date on their current tour and they brought with them pop legend Rick to get everyone suitably warmed up.

Ahead of his sell out Mouth of the Tyne concert , Rick delivered an absolutely stellar set that included his PWL anthems like Together Forever and Whenever You Need Somebody alongside new material like Beautiful Life.

But here was always one song that was going to round off his support slot and, had their been a roof over the Riverside, classic Never Gonna Give You Up would have been in serious danger of lifting it off.

The 1987 number 1 is still without any shadow of a doubt an absolute tune and deservedly got a massive reaction from the packed Take That of all ages - many of whom had their own dance moves to it as well.

Rick got the 25,000 plus fans suitably warmed up for the main attraction and with a set that got going with Greatest Day and ended with a phone torchlight laden Rule The World and also included 90s classics like Sure, Back For Good and Babe, as well as new material like Out of Our Heads and Everlasting.
