WATCH: Cowboys owner Jerry Jones gives Ezekiel Elliott a “Zeke who?” shirt

Ezekiel Elliott has the statement contract he wanted and is back with the Dallas Cowboys just in time for the season-opener against the New York Giants on Sunday.

The running back and team owner Jerry Jones met with media Thursday following the team’s announcement that the NFL’s reigning leading rusher agreed to contract terms Wednesday – and Jones had something else to give Elliott this week: a “Zeke who?” t-shirt.

A quote from Jones himself inspired the gear. After the Cowboys’ Aug. 17 preseason game, the franchise owner praised rookie RB Tony Pollard’s performance and joked “Zeke who?,” before doubling down and clearly saying that he believed the pair would be great in the Dallas backfield together. A couple days later, Elliott’s agent publicly said that Elliott felt disrespected by the comment as contract negotiations were on-going.

Now, Elliott looks ok with the comment on the gear and Jones likely just previewed the top-selling team apparel for this season. For $50 million guaranteed and $90 million over six years, it seems that the 22-year-old can take a joke at his expense .. as long as Jones is the one literally paying in the end.
