WATCH: Cowboys DE Taco Charlton could be looking to get out of franchise

Dallas Cowboys defensive end Taco Charlton and the franchise seem to be nearing the end of their time together.

Reports from the NFL Network, comments from owner Jerry Jones and social media posts from the athlete himself all point toward an upcoming trade that sends the former first-round draft pick to a team that enables him to play a contributing role.

Charlton was a healthy scratch in Week 2, staying inactive as the Cowboys beat the Redskins Sunday, and is expected to be inactive this week as the team hosts the struggling Dolphins.

Both Ian Rapoport and Jane Slater reported on NFL Network Sunday that the team has been in talks to trade the pass rusher. When owner Jones was asked about it postgame Sunday, he said, “I know there is some discussion. We don’t get into that.”

Monday Charlton quoted a tweet which explained reasoning behind him being inactive with the eyes emoji and, “Trade me,” before deleting the tweet and sending a new one out online that said, “Trust me the last thing I want to do is to have to go to social media to get what I want so I can play football again.”
