Watch company announces marketing deal with Browns' Odell Beckham Jr. after he gives shout-out Monday night

Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. telegraphed a new marketing partnership when he gave watch company Daniel Wellington a shout-out after a 23-3 win over the New York Jets on "Monday Night Football."

Beckham sported a $189,500 Richard Mille watch during the Browns' season-opening 43-13 loss to the Tennessee Titans on Sept. 8. The NFL has a policy against players wearing "hard objects" in games, though jewelry is permitted.

Then Beckham appeared to wear another Richard Mille watch during pre-game warm-ups Monday, though a company spokesperson said she could not confirm whether it was indeed a Richard Mille watch.

In Beckham's postgame news conference, he was asked about the watch he donned at MetLife Stadium before facing the Jets.

"I'm off of it. You know? I don't really have any comment about it," he said. "I think Daniel Wellington might be a better watch. It's a little classier. It's not as flashy as this one, but I'm just blessed."

On Wednesday, Daniel Wellington tweeted, "We're thrilled to announced that @obj is joining #DanielWellington as one of our new Icons. #OdellBeckhamJr."

After Wednesday's practice, Beckham was asked whether there was a method to all of the watch stuff.

"There's always a method to the madness," he replied. "It's a partnership with Daniel Wellington. I'm very happy to do that, but again, I'm off of the whole, the watch topic, I'm going to leave it alone from now on. I'm just strictly on football. Now you know Daniel Wellington, so that's just the bottom line. I'm not talking about watches anymore."

The watches listed on Daniel Wellington's website are priced between $139 and $229.
